It Pays to Be a Winner Throwdown Thoughts and Results- 1/17/2015
I have never spoken to a competitor post-throwdown and heard them say “I regret signing up for this”. As many of you know, last weekend was our most recent in-house competition, the “It Pays to Be a Winner” Throwdown.
Saying it was a huge success is an understatement.
What an amazing day it proved to be. From the individuals competing, to the electric atmosphere provided by all the spectators that came to support, I always leave the gym at the end of the day proud to be a part of such a great team.
This partner throwdown proved to be one of the toughest yet, but everyone came out with their best efforts and it showed throughout the day.
Most people that competed for the first time haven’t had to push themselves like that ever in their lives, but they all made it to the end and probably learned a lot about their will and determination to not quit.
Those who have competed in the past found themselves running into new challenges, like the L-sit, and were able to persevere.
As a coach, throwdown day is one of your proudest moments. To see the people you work with on a daily basis, learn things about themselves and complete tasks that, just a few months ago seemed damn near impossible, is the most rewarding feeling you could imagine.
From the big victories, like the many power clean and front squat PR’s, to the small ones, like pushing through that one last burpee, us coaches are reassured that our classes are helping change lives.
Congratulations to all who competed!
Whether you made it to the podium or not, just throwing your name in the hat and participating is a win in and of itself. I promise this will be an experience you will never forget.
A huge thank you goes out to all who helped make this day possible. From those who judged and volunteered, to the food donations, and the many friends and family member who stayed until the end of that long ass day to cheer on their loved ones…..we thank you!
