Coaches Notes:

What up guys and gals… hope you had a great Monday!

Let me start out by congratulating all who gave 14.4 of the CrossFit Open a crack. Like I said in my status update earlier today on Facebook, you and your brothers and sisters at Daddis Mixed Martial Arts are cut from a different cloth.

No, I am not saying that we made you that way.  What I am saying is that you had the guts to come into try CrossFit to begin with, then fell in love with it and then ultimately competed in it!

Think about one of your co-workers who may not work out or not as much as they’d like at least.  Heck, many would be jealous that you climb ropes to the ceiling and lift weights like they see in the Olympics.  Unfortunately, some of these people end up becoming the “haters” of the world due to a lack of self-worth, feelings of inadequacy, insecurities and well, straight up jealousy.  They can’t stand to hear about what a great work out you had the night before or that morning.

Let’s face it, if they enjoyed getting their work out on, they too would like to chat about it with you!  How did I digress so much?  I was trying to make a point here…oh yeah…you are unique.  You are rare.  Embrace that and be sure to give yourself a pat on the back once in a while.

Too often we can beat ourselves up for “missing that last rep” or for feeling like we didn’t perform they way we wanted to.  When focusing on what we weren’t able to do, we can completely forget how far we’ve come!  Keep things in check and in perspective and remember that you are getting better each and every WOD whether you think so or not.  You are willing to do things that some would never dream of even trying!  You are brave and we are honored to have your sweat to clean up at the end of the day.  And, I am starting to sound quite cheesy so I’ll quit while I’m ahead.

Stay Frosty,

~Coach Brad

P.S.  Don’t hyper-extend on the ball slams and really focus on starting your cleans from the power position.  This aspect of the movement may be a weakness for you and you may not even realize it. Land on the mid/forefoot and not your heals during your run.  “Fall into it”.  Focus!
